Zohr Onshore LNG Facility

Solving complex challenges at a large scale

The Zohr Onshore LNG facility is a part of the world-class gas discovery happening in the deep waters of Egypt’s Offshore Mediterranean. This fast-tracked project is a massive undertaking involving multiple partners with sophisticated technology and solutions.

Description

The project is a joint venture between Petrobel and ENI S.P.A. The EPCM for this H₂S treatment plant for the project was Cameron/Schlumberger who used Shell Global Solutions THIOPAQ technology.

The Problem

During the construction of a new facility Zohr outlined the requirement for the efficient combustion of low heat content tail gas from a bioreactor and a THIOPAQ O&G sulphur removal system (H₂S and hydrocarbons). In addition, they wanted a solution to handle multiple streams from PSV’s and ESD’s.

The Solution

Questor’s Q3000 thermal oxidizer was installed to safely deal with the sour tail gas emissions from the THIOPAQ unit and any other sour emergency streams.

The Results
  • Minimized supplemental fuel gas usage for complete efficiency at customer site therefore reducing OPEX costs
  • Improved safety with the efficient handling of H₂S in a remote location
  • Ensured our unit was able to be placed within the site and reduced footprint of facility
